Human Traffickers Hate Border Walls

The United States is the largest market for human trafficking. Mexico is the 2nd largest market. Transnational drug cartels generate most of their revenue from the movement of drugs and people.

Due to our current security issues on our southern border, people are smuggled in from all over Central and South America into the United States to be used in various sectors. In addition, over 100,000 American children are trafficked in the United States each year, with a significant portion being sourced out of the foster care system. In fact, children are five times more likely to be sexually abused and seven times more likely to be physically abused in foster care.

If you don't think people (especially children) should be bought, sold, and consumed as goods, then you would have to support stronger border security measures. The media does not highlight the fact that many of the people caught and detained at the border have been smuggled across for money using experienced guides (coyotes). If elected, I would push for penalties equal to murder for human trafficking operations. In addition, certain types of human trafficking would be defined as terrorism, allowing for joint law enforcement and military responses to these organizations.
